Kenny Wellington, Breeze McGrath, Jean Paul 'Blue' Mau nick, David Baptist and Peter Hinds are joined on this reunion by Blue's Incognito horn men Kevin Robinson and Fayez Virji. Noel McKoy of JTQ fame is also on alongside members of Central Line and former Steve Arrington drummer Billy Osborne. Top keyboards man Toby Baker and vibraphone player Orphy Robinson is also along for this funky musical journey. Camelle Hinds is also there on bass and vocals. As members of LOTW and Beggar & Co the musicians enjoyed National chart success with 'Time/I'm So Happy and London Town as well as (Somebody) Help Me Out and Mule Chant No 2. Bluey is of course renown for his great works with Incognito including the fantastic Always There. Central Line achieved national chart success with a great cover of 'Nature Boy'. This group of musicians have appeared on recordings totaling sales of over 50,000,000 with their services being used collectively and individually by a range of artists in the industry including Paul Mc Cartney, Simply Red, Gabrielle, The Style Council, Tina Turner, Billy Ocean, Alexander O''NealThis CD is a unique coming together of some of the finest exponents of the genre around. Potent brass, funky guitars and a pounding bass and drums. Strictly in the Old Skool style. Fans of LOTW, Beggar & Co, Incognito, and JTQ will love this CD. The musicians and band are well known within the genre and enjoy good relationships with many DJs and radio stations. They will be arranging a series of interviews to promote the CD. It is also our intention to foster good relationships with some of the smaller stations found on 365.com too. They will also be arranging some prestigious UK dates and also have some people looking at dates in Europe. in diskunion [Para Ouvir/Samples]

ONRA - Chinoiseries

ONRA - Chinoiseries (Label Rouge) Comentários: Brilliantly odd instrumental hip hop album here from Onra, compiled and constructed around vintage Vietnamese pop records picked up in flea markets on a trip to the far east. 32 short tracks make up "Chinoiseries", each of them clocking in at the 1 or 2 minute mark and delivering a tight selection of beats that somehow bring to mind J Dilla, Rza, Madlib, Moondog, MF Doom and the Sublime Frequencies label rolled into one beautifully incoherent package. Having a ravenous appetite for the "Radio Transmission" style beloved of the aforementioned Sublime Frequencies crew, we might be perfectly primed for this sort of thing, but while the dusty exotica, folk and plastic pop of the source material here could so easily have ended up sounding like the sterile plunderphonic coffee table beats that typified so much instrumental hip hop in the late 90's, Onra manages to harness the mystifying magic of the original material and

FLORENCE ADOONI - Mam Pe'ela Su'ure (Philophon)

Florence Adooni - Mam Pe'ela Su'ure ( Philophon ) Florence Adooni shares a long history with Philophon. Being part of Guy One's group she is the voice on his radio hit "Estre". Furthermore, she is a member of Alogte Oho's Sounds of Joy and can be heard on his smasher "Mam Yinne Wa". Last but not least, Jimi Tenor chose her to sing on his instant club classic "Vocalize My Luv". In addition to all these cooperations, Florence has locally released a series of albums under her own name and without a doubt, she can be called the queen of Frafra-Gospel. "Mam Pe'ela Su'ure" is a typical Frafra-Gospel Hymn, sung during Sunday services accompanied only with shakers and hand clapping. Our version here is backed up by Kumasi's finest High Life players, who transform the song into a massive wave of groove. "Naba Aferda" is a homage to the Chief of Zuarungu, Florence's home village, which was also the home village of

EKTE VARE Han Sotofett & Jaakko Eino Kalevi with Andres Lõo – Jazzsomdub (Sex Tags Amfibia)

EKTE VARE Han Sotofett & Jaakko Eino Kalevi with Andres Lõo – Jazzsomdub ( Sex Tags Amfibia ) Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jaakko Eino Kalevi & Norwegian producer Han Sotofett (aka DJ Sotofett ) teamed up with Estonian drummer Andres Lõo on the "Jazzsomdub" album for a wide & improvised excursion within a narrow world of drums, percussion, saxophone, flutes, electric piano, monophonic synths, and tape delays. Besides distinctively exploring Lõo and Kalevi's batterie & percussion work with deep-listening quality drum mixes there are elements of impulsive beauty, particularly on "Essens" free carrying sax solo. The album partly reaches for well-known directions of jazz from the '70s in the vain of the cosmic, psychedelic, improvised, atonal, and spiritual, but the particularness lies within the rhythm & mix – like a rubber band stretched in 4 dimensions.
