GAGLE - Love Note

GAGLE - Love Note (Jazzy Sport Japan) Comentários: The A-Side has a remix for 'Love Note' by Samon Kawamura, known for producing Till Bronner's album 'Blue Eyed Soul' ,and this year he released the hip hop album 'Unfold'. On this remix version, Samon keeps the laid back groove of the original and delivars an instrumental version as well. The B-Side. has the original instumental version of 'Love Note' and the track 'Blah! Blah Someswing' , with it's reggae/dub feel! in rushhour [ Para Ouvir/Samples ]

KING COLE, Nat - Re: Generations

KING COLE, Nat - Re: Generations (Capitol US) Comentários: During the past several months, Nat King Cole has virtually been in the studio and on the mic with some of today's hip-hop, Latin, reggae and rock artists and producers. On March 10, 2009 a new recording entitled RE:GENERATIONS arrives with modern reinterpretations of Cole's work. RE:GENERATIONS aims to construct a tuneful bridge between generations, cultures and races. Executive Produced by Michaelangelo L'Acqua and Co-Executive Produced by Carole Cole, the album contains the talents of Cee-Lo , The Roots , will.i.am with Natalie Cole , Cut Chemist , Just Blaze, Nas with Salaam Remi, Souldiggaz with Izza Kizza, Michaelangelo L'Acqua with Bebel Gilberto , Stephen Marley and Damian Marley, Bitter:Sweet , Brazilian Girls , Amp Fiddler and TV On The Radio . RE:GENERATIONS is a 21st Century journey in the lexicon of Nat King Cole's catalog. Several respected Los Angeles visual artists have drawn inspirati

MOHAWKE, Hudson -Polyfolk Dance

MOHAWKE, Hudson - Polyfolk Dance (Warp) Comentários: With the increasingly crowded Wonky movement threatening to implode before it's even begun, Hudmo turns up with his much touted and long-awaited debut for the Warp imprint, featuring 6 impressively tight sequences from one of the more exciting producers of the moment. For our money the good stuff's buried away towards the end of the EP, starting off with B-Side opener 'Speed Stick', shoving the detuned synths way up in the mix with an edgy plucked vibe and nervous stop-start routine that you just about get used to when the track comes to an abrupt end. Just try and dance to that one homeboy. Next up - 'Velvet Peel' ushers in helium vocals for some multicoloured good times, before 'Yonard' ends the Ep with arguably it's finest moment, a rugged, antisocial beat pummels itself into a joyous cacophony before those trusted synths emerge from the mess to make some kind of sense of it all. It's loose

UNKOWN / THRILLER - BBQ Genie (Thriller)

UNKOWN / THRILLER - BBQ Genie (Thriller) Comentários: Oh yes, it's another anonymous transmission, and it's a goodun. Thriller is the fledgling, bespoke offshoot of a very well known label and features the work of key artists from the wonky/dubstep/bass scene. Making use of raw ingredients supplied by R&B, Disco and Hip Hop, the sound of the label lies somewhere between the malfunctioning wooziness of Rustie, the low-end sentience of Kode 9 and the smartarse plunderphonics of MF Doom. Series opener BBQ has already been causing quite a stir and comes to us from easily one of the most sought-after producers of the moment, flexing his inimitable muscle with a killer late night number that's one part Midnight funk and two parts bassline shocker. Flipside cut 'Genie' has its own tricks up its sleeve and comes from equally enigmatic quarters, employing a shifted R&B, 80's Disco spine only to self destruct in the most glamorous, heavy circumstances imaginable.

CUPP CAVE - Garbage Pail Beats

CUPP CAVE - Garbage Pail Beats (Thin Consolation) Comentários: 32 track CD, ram jam packed with rather splendid sideways beats! Awesome artwork too, all wrapped up in beautiful a screenprinted cardboard sleeve (lots of colour variations)...crazy limited. Def for fans of Samiyam and the more out-there beats shit. Dope stuff... Francis bakes his beats by the dozen. Both his previous efforts on Carte Postale were filed under the Kingfisherg moniker - which leads me to believe that Francis skived spelling in primary. This is his first as Cupp Cave. His Garbage Pail Beats are a rump-shaking, head-nodding, feet-shuffling slap in the face, one for the crate-diggers and glitch-lovers. Think nice crunchy gravel. Think big, red, 8-bit family sedan. Think wearing sunglasses sitting in the passenger seat with the window open. Think sunshine. Thump, thump, clap; Cupp Cave is guaranteed Hennessy-free. in rushhour [ Para Ouvir/Samples ]

MOONSTARR - Instrumentals Forever

MOONSTARR - Instrumentals Forever ( Public Transit Canada ) Comentários: Moonstarr's always got a great way with a groove, and this album is no exception -- a surprising array of shorter numbers, sifted together with a few longer bits as well! The record's not entirely in the "instrumentals" mode promised by the title -- given that some tunes have dropped-in sound samples and spoken bits, and others some more conscious rhymes or vocals -- but overall, the main focus is on the angular, skittish beats and keyboards we've come to love in Moonstarr's music -- moving here between funky styles, jazzy moments, and some boldly electric cuts. Titles include "Who's Bitin Who", "String Theory", "Get Outside", "Broken Bossa", "Clappy", and "Break It Down". © 1996-2008, Dusty Groove America, Inc. [ Para Ouvir/Samples ]

Pete Concrete for Samurai FM

Eat Concrete Radio October 2008 Eat Concrete Radio with Pete Concrete and friendsEat Concrete is a diverse and dynamic music label, firmly rooted in the Dutch electronic music scene. The record label was founded as a means of releasing our own music in a much wider and more open environment than offered by established labels and other music media. In 2005 the name Eat Concrete was first used for giving out mixes and recordings and as the name for a radioshow hosted by Pete Concrete, founder of the label. Early 2006 the first records were released, built up from material by friends and like minded artists, most of them involved in music for many years. Backed up by those interested in and related to us, the Eat Concrete network grew out into a musical platform, independent and open minded. Many recordlabels try to establish themselves by maintaining an image or profile. Eat Concrete aspires to let go of this framed state of mind and preserve an openness in it's approach to releasin

AFTA 1 - Aftathoughts Vol 1

AFTA 1 - Aftathoughts Vol 1 (Circulations Japan) Comentários: California’s Manuel Moran, aka Afta-1 , makes the kind of hip-hop beats that don’t need the slightest bit of vocals to draw listeners in. That’s because Afta-1 is a true production artist, the kind who looks at instrumental hip-hop beats in the same way that a classical musician looks at his symphony. On AFTATHOUGHTS Vol. 1, Afta-1 isn’t interested in simply creating loops for a rapper to chime in on. He wants to tell a story though music alone. AFTATHOUGHTS Vol. 1 is a beautiful amalgamation of blunted hip-hop beats, world music textures, and electronic effects. The tracks vary from bass heavy head nodders like album opener “Quest” and percussion-laden “Honey Dip” to more downtempo psychedelic fare like “Pluto Moon.” Taken as a whole the album works as a complete album, seamlessly swimming through several different vibes. But even the tracks themselves are complete journeys, utilizing different sonic themes and suites to t

ONRA - 7x7

ONRA - 7x7 ( All City Ireland) Comentários: The awesome Allcity 7" series brings itself to a close with this brilliant installment from french beat maker Onra laying down two tracks of typically esoteric yet devastating club joints. Onra is probably best known for his instrumental travelogue 'Chinioseries' last year for Favourite recordings, a masterful trip into the art of keen eared sampling with a heavy lean on South Asian and Vietnamese music. Crafted for the A-side, 'My Comet' is a neat nugget of scuzzy instro grindbeats with a psychy wooze that has been shot through the best tracks from this series. But our favourite has to be 'Shhhhhhh' on the flip, craftily utilising the same sample as the first Thriller 12" and almost acting as an another alternative edit to one of our favourite tracks of the year, by applying head swimming FX to a double dope and as yet unknown electro soul sample, saving some extra funked synth noodling for this version

PV HIFANA - Fresh Push Breakin'

HIFANA are breakbeats duo KEIZOmachine! & JUICY since 1998. HIFANA have always been known for original and creative live performance, during which they cut beats with realtime sampler (MPC) and incorporating scratch and percussion, without using programmed sequences. CRO MAGNON - Mellow Out & Acoustic EP 1 & 2

As the Cro-Magnon sound gets progressively more heavily textured and atmospheric on their successive and still stellar LPs, the trio scales it back a bit for the Mellow Out & Acoustic -- a groovy batch of jazz funk covers and originals! The vibe is actually often electric, cut from cloth of the cosmos, with tight rhythms -- the mellowness is more in the easygoing mood. And speaking of mood, the Cro-Magnon crew covers two tracks by Moodymann -- "Black Mahogani" and "Technologystolemyvinyle" -- plus a keyboard lounge take on the Jackson 5's "Never Can Say Goodbye", a similarly easy grooving take on the Roy Ayers classic "Mystic Voyage", the originals "Silent Wave", "Beyond The Summer" and "After All That" -- plus "Mysterious Vibes" and "Love Bite". 10 tracks in all. © 1996-2008, Dusty Groove America, Inc. McKAY, Stephanie - Tell It Like It Is

McKAY, Stephanie - Tell It Like It Is ( Muthas Of Invention ) Comentários: STEPHANIE MCKAY’s new album ‘Tell It Like It Is’ sees the Bronx-born singer/songwriter work with local musicians to produce an album that wraps up classic soul, seventies funk-rock and old-school hip hop influences into one vibrant outpouring. Sometimes romantic and at others acutely topical, ‘Tell It Like It Is’ is an album full of strong performances and great song-writing.The album is packed with classic gems from the feel-good joy of the KATAYST produced lead single “Jackson Avenue”, to the outrageously funky, hornfired groove of “Kinky”. The hip hop influenced “Oh Yeah” is a wind-in-the hair celebration with a cool groove, while a newly-incarnated version of the KATALYST co-written “Say What You Feel” appears in all its glory. R&B sensation ANTHONY HAMILTON appears on the smooth but perfectly pitched duet “Where Did Our Love Go?” resulting in an absolute gem of a ballad, while the album finishes with
