Mammane Sani et son Orgue - Lamru

Mammane Sani – La Musique Électronique Du Niger «The original 1978 cassette (one of only two known to still exist!) was discovered in a Niger music archive by the dedicated explorer Christopher Kirkley. He connected with the creator of this lush music, Mammane Sanni Abdoulaye, to once again let it shine. Mammane is well known in Niger as his music has provided the undertone to radio and television programs for decades but his sole album has laid dormant since it’s release. Now these gentle rolls and sways of electric organ tones, transcribing traditional Wodaabe and Tuareg melodies as well as original expressions, once again roll into life and we couldn’t be happier.» http://www.discogs.com/Mammane-Sani-La-Musique-Électronique-Du-Niger/release/4505053

GUELEWAR - Touki Ba Banjul: Acid Trip From Banjul To Dakar

GUELEWAR - Touki Ba Banjul: Acid Trip From Banjul To Dakar ( Kindred Spirits Holland ) Comentários: ouki Ba Banjul is a compilation of the Gambian psych sensation Guelewar who played a major part in the development of the Afro Manding sound. From 1979-1982 the band released four albums, featuring some of Gambia's best funk tunes. This official first time ever reissue features the highlights of their career. Before Guelewar, Laaye N’Gorn, the lead singer of the band, was already one of Gambia’s most celebrated artists. He was the centre figure in The Supreme Eagles, with whom he played as the main act in one of Gambia’s succesful clubs ‘The Bambo No.1 Night Club’. In return for the succes the clubmanager offered them instruments, after which they renamed their band to the Super Alligators. Due to the mixture of western influences such as soul and funk with traditional and regional rhythms like boogaraboo and sawrouba, The Super Alligators had a unique sound. The result of this ble

LARRY ACHIAMPONG - Meh Mogya (Sample Of Me)

LARRY ACHIAMPONG - Meh Mogya (Sample Of Me) (Look Mama) Comentários: This is special. The first side itches identity, family and culture via a raw, Madlibbed, fucked-up re-jigging of classic, scratchy Ghanaian highlife, lit up by sampled fighting talk from the great Kwame Nkrumah. The flip drops the same B-Boy science along Edgware Road in West London — the highlife gone, the hiphop turning spooked Bass, incorporating ambient recording and the tough poetry and pithy interjections of a bunch of Fresh Start students, and passers-by. Silk-screened sleeves; two hundred copies in all. Warmly recommended. via phonica. [ Buy Here ] MEH MOGYA (SAMPLE OF ME) by Larry Achiampong

M'BOOM - Re Percussion (Think! Japan)

M'BOOM - Re Percussion (Think Japan) Comentários: A highly percussive little album – and the first-ever appearance of the M'Boom ensemble on record! You might know the group from their later fame under the guidance of Max Roach, but here the combo is a much more equally-assembled cast of players – featuring not just Roach, but percussionists Roy Brooks, Joe Chambers, Omar Clay, Freddie Waits, Richard Pablo Landrum, and Warren Smith! Given that lineup, you've got a group that represents the forefront of jazz and creative percussion work at the start of the 70s – and added to the mix is the ultimate freedom allowed by the Strata East label – which has the group really stretching out in these amazing ways! Things are never too free or outside, and there's always a nicely spiritual core to the record – but there is an incredible shift between percussive rhythms and melody – on instrumentation that includes vibes, tympani, xylophone, marimba, drums, and plenty of percussion

Matthew LARKIN CASSELL - The Complete Works

Matthew LARKIN CASSELL - The Complete Works (Stones Throw US) Comentários: San Francisco's Matthew Larkin Cassell presents his '...Complete Works' for Stones Throw. As the story goes... Larkin happened to notice a sample of his music in the Madvillainy Remixes set and promptly contacted the label. The outcome of that exchange is this LP, compiling each of his three DIY-produced and self-released records. He name checks the Sons of Champlin, Tower of Power, Paul Simon, Steely Dan, and Laura Nyro as his influences and that's clearly evident in his soulful mixture of rock, jazz and pop. Original copies of those fateful records now sell for stupid money and Cassell is now producing new material. LP is housed in full colour gatefold sleeve with original artwork by the artist. in boomkat [ Para Ouvir/Samples ]

Roy & THE ARTISTIC TRUTH BROOKS feat EDDIE JEFFERSON/BLACK ROSE - Ethnic Expressions: Live At Small's Paradise NYC

BROOKS, Roy & THE ARTISTIC TRUTH - Ethnic Expressions (Jazzman) Comentários: Amazing sounds from drummer Roy Brooks -- very spiritual work that's quite a change from his straighter soul jazz of the 60s! The album's right up there with Roy's better-known (though still rare) live performance at Town Hall -- or his classic Free Slave session -- and like those records, this one explodes with a raw power that's really amazing -- heavy drums from Brooks, driving a collective of righteous musicians that really stretch out in the free space of the recording! The lineup shifts a bit from track to track, but there's a cohesive spirit to the record that comes from Brooks' bold spirit -- a joyous, soulful, post-Coltrane sort of energy -- let loose in the lead, to guide the talents of players who include John Stubblefield on tenor, Sonny Fortune on alto, Olu Dara and Cecil Bridgewater on trumpets, Hamiet Bluiett on baritone sax, Joe Bonner on piano, and Reggie Workman o

MUHSINAH - Always (Smile)

MUHSINAH - Always (Smile) ( All City Ireland ) Comentários: All City deliver a steaming hot plate displaying the vocal excellence of Muhsinah atop beats from 00Genesis and the mighty Flying Lotus. If you do the whole beats thing you're no doubt familiar with the warm soul breeze of her vocal cords. They've graced tunes for everyone from Mike Slott to Common and many more still. With 'Always (Smile)' she sends out a message of positivity set to reconfigured bossa grooves in stumbling nu-skool style before really killing it on 'Lose My Fuse'. Fly lo beautifully highlights her vocals with a bluesy astrosoul beat which eventually dissipates only to come back in with a naked rimshot rhythm and heavenly harmonised vocals. It's worth it for this moment alone. Lovely stuff - limited copies. in boomkat [ Para Ouvir/Samples ]
