GAGLE - Love Note

GAGLE - Love Note (Jazzy Sport Japan) Comentários: The A-Side has a remix for 'Love Note' by Samon Kawamura, known for producing Till Bronner's album 'Blue Eyed Soul' ,and this year he released the hip hop album 'Unfold'. On this remix version, Samon keeps the laid back groove of the original and delivars an instrumental version as well. The B-Side. has the original instumental version of 'Love Note' and the track 'Blah! Blah Someswing' , with it's reggae/dub feel! in rushhour [ Para Ouvir/Samples ]

KING COLE, Nat - Re: Generations

KING COLE, Nat - Re: Generations (Capitol US) Comentários: During the past several months, Nat King Cole has virtually been in the studio and on the mic with some of today's hip-hop, Latin, reggae and rock artists and producers. On March 10, 2009 a new recording entitled RE:GENERATIONS arrives with modern reinterpretations of Cole's work. RE:GENERATIONS aims to construct a tuneful bridge between generations, cultures and races. Executive Produced by Michaelangelo L'Acqua and Co-Executive Produced by Carole Cole, the album contains the talents of Cee-Lo , The Roots , will.i.am with Natalie Cole , Cut Chemist , Just Blaze, Nas with Salaam Remi, Souldiggaz with Izza Kizza, Michaelangelo L'Acqua with Bebel Gilberto , Stephen Marley and Damian Marley, Bitter:Sweet , Brazilian Girls , Amp Fiddler and TV On The Radio . RE:GENERATIONS is a 21st Century journey in the lexicon of Nat King Cole's catalog. Several respected Los Angeles visual artists have drawn inspirati

UNKOWN / THRILLER - BBQ Genie (Thriller)

UNKOWN / THRILLER - BBQ Genie (Thriller) Comentários: Oh yes, it's another anonymous transmission, and it's a goodun. Thriller is the fledgling, bespoke offshoot of a very well known label and features the work of key artists from the wonky/dubstep/bass scene. Making use of raw ingredients supplied by R&B, Disco and Hip Hop, the sound of the label lies somewhere between the malfunctioning wooziness of Rustie, the low-end sentience of Kode 9 and the smartarse plunderphonics of MF Doom. Series opener BBQ has already been causing quite a stir and comes to us from easily one of the most sought-after producers of the moment, flexing his inimitable muscle with a killer late night number that's one part Midnight funk and two parts bassline shocker. Flipside cut 'Genie' has its own tricks up its sleeve and comes from equally enigmatic quarters, employing a shifted R&B, 80's Disco spine only to self destruct in the most glamorous, heavy circumstances imaginable.

ONRA - 7x7

ONRA - 7x7 ( All City Ireland) Comentários: The awesome Allcity 7" series brings itself to a close with this brilliant installment from french beat maker Onra laying down two tracks of typically esoteric yet devastating club joints. Onra is probably best known for his instrumental travelogue 'Chinioseries' last year for Favourite recordings, a masterful trip into the art of keen eared sampling with a heavy lean on South Asian and Vietnamese music. Crafted for the A-side, 'My Comet' is a neat nugget of scuzzy instro grindbeats with a psychy wooze that has been shot through the best tracks from this series. But our favourite has to be 'Shhhhhhh' on the flip, craftily utilising the same sample as the first Thriller 12" and almost acting as an another alternative edit to one of our favourite tracks of the year, by applying head swimming FX to a double dope and as yet unknown electro soul sample, saving some extra funked synth noodling for this version

CRO MAGNON - Mellow Out & Acoustic EP 1 & 2

As the Cro-Magnon sound gets progressively more heavily textured and atmospheric on their successive and still stellar LPs, the trio scales it back a bit for the Mellow Out & Acoustic -- a groovy batch of jazz funk covers and originals! The vibe is actually often electric, cut from cloth of the cosmos, with tight rhythms -- the mellowness is more in the easygoing mood. And speaking of mood, the Cro-Magnon crew covers two tracks by Moodymann -- "Black Mahogani" and "Technologystolemyvinyle" -- plus a keyboard lounge take on the Jackson 5's "Never Can Say Goodbye", a similarly easy grooving take on the Roy Ayers classic "Mystic Voyage", the originals "Silent Wave", "Beyond The Summer" and "After All That" -- plus "Mysterious Vibes" and "Love Bite". 10 tracks in all. © 1996-2008, Dusty Groove America, Inc. McKAY, Stephanie - Tell It Like It Is

McKAY, Stephanie - Tell It Like It Is ( Muthas Of Invention ) Comentários: STEPHANIE MCKAY’s new album ‘Tell It Like It Is’ sees the Bronx-born singer/songwriter work with local musicians to produce an album that wraps up classic soul, seventies funk-rock and old-school hip hop influences into one vibrant outpouring. Sometimes romantic and at others acutely topical, ‘Tell It Like It Is’ is an album full of strong performances and great song-writing.The album is packed with classic gems from the feel-good joy of the KATAYST produced lead single “Jackson Avenue”, to the outrageously funky, hornfired groove of “Kinky”. The hip hop influenced “Oh Yeah” is a wind-in-the hair celebration with a cool groove, while a newly-incarnated version of the KATALYST co-written “Say What You Feel” appears in all its glory. R&B sensation ANTHONY HAMILTON appears on the smooth but perfectly pitched duet “Where Did Our Love Go?” resulting in an absolute gem of a ballad, while the album finishes with

DAM FUNK - Burgundy City

DAM FUNK - Burgundy City (Stones Throw US) Comentários: Damn funky work from Dam Funk -- an enigmatic Stones Throw signing with a crisp electric feel! "Burgundy City" has a mellow steppers feel that's totally great -- basslines dipping around the bottom with a slightly restless feel -- topped by keyboards that are somewhat sprightly, but a bit off-kilter too -- a nicely odd take on an early 80s groove! "Galactic Fun" is a bit more upbeat and straightforward, but pretty great too -- almost an electro club groover, ala Cosmic mode! in dusty groove [ Para Ouvir/Samples ] [ Buy ]

NOBODY presents BLANK BLUE - Western Water Music Vol 2

NOBODY presents BLANK BLUE - Western Water Music Vol 2 (Ubiquity US) Comentários: Blank Blue is the surreal story of an Armageddon born out of a massive earthquake off the west coast of the United States and set sometime in the future. The quake triggers a separation of the west from the rest of the country, creating a whirlpool of devastation in its wake. Millions die. Thousands survive. Those that survive eventually sink and drown from the buckling lands, only to have scores of poison mushrooms waiting for them underneath the earth's masses, loosened from centuries old trees. The poisoned water gives them their first gasp, and miraculously they are able to and breathe and live underwater. The album tells the story from various points of views, from an all-knowing narrator, to a psychic fish that warns people via their dreams, to random characters who watch their loved ones drown or ask the others underwater how to find the ability to breathe. The confusion and sadness is balance

PANTS, James - Future Delight

PANTS, James - Future Delight (Stones Throw US) Comentários: On the A side, some incredible disco from James Pants, very much on a eighties The Clash meets 'cosmic boogie' tip with great drums and synths. The flip is more along spiritual jazz lines. Limited fanclub 45! Well Recommended. in rushhour [ Para Ouvir/Samples1 ] [ 2 ] De repente aparece um nome para isto: Freshbeat. Ouvido treinado, sentido rítmico, reciclagem sábia e muitos a

ASPLUND, Kissey - Move Me

ASPLUND, Kissey - Move Me (Record Breakin US) Comentários: The second release on this hot new 7" series put together by DJ Junior comes from Sweden's answer to Erykah Badu, Kissey Asplund, who was born in 1982 and now lives in Malmoe. A side cut, 'Move Me' is an Asha Puthli styled vocal with a timeless feel, lush rhodes and reverbed guitar licks. A record for chilling in the park on a hot summers day - and one that we're tipping as one of the best soul tracks we've heard all year - while the B side '99 Bottles' with its killer scratch intro and super fat beat is chilled hip hop with beef - think Badu meets D.J. Premier)! Chicago MC Bless 1 provides the rap while Germany's Suff Daddy provides the production. Hot. in phonica [ Para Ouvir/Samples1 ] [ 2 ]

GUILTY SIMPSON - Footwork Size 12

GUILTY SIMPSON - Footwork Size 12 (Stones Throw) Comentários: Guilty Simpson was born in Detroit, the son and grandson of the family’s performing musicians in his father and grandfather. At age four, Simpson and his mother began traveling with an aunt in the military, living in California and Birmingham, Alabama, before settling back in the Motor City at 15. Big Daddy Kane, N.W.A, and Scarface were all major influences, but it was Queens-bred street bard Kool G Rap who made the biggest impression. “That’s my crème de la crème rapper right there,” says Simpson, his own presence among the latest in a rich lineage of heavy-handed MCs. For years Guilty Simpson has been a rock on the Detroit hip-hop circuit alongside those such as J Dilla, Slum Village, Eminem (whom Guilty still calls “Marshall”) & D12, Obie Trice, Proof, Phat Kat and Black Milk. A member of the Almighty Dreadnaughtz crew, Guilty emerged as a sound to be reckoned with after linking with producer Dilla in 2001. In the m

TAKE - The Dirty Decibels of Thomas Two Thousand (Eat Concrete Holland) Comentários: TAKE aka Thomas Wilson is a composer who continues to push the boundaries of instrumental Hip Hop music into new directions. He has long been at the center of an ever growing scene of talented musicians, producers and dj's in the Los Angeles area. BADU, Erykah - New Amerykah Part One (4th World War)

BADU, Erykah - New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) (Universal Mowtown) Comentários: What's the freakquency, Erykah? The five years since her last album, Worldwide Underground (make that last EP, so more like eight years since her last proper album), make clear that her release frequency lags about as far behind as you could expect from a one-woman jam band at the forefront of a head collective. But the freakquency? That's pitched as high as a kite, now more than ever. Badu's intense New AmErykah: Part One (4th World War), the opening salvo of a promised two-disc series (three if you count a live album Universal is promising in late 2008), is as sonically ambitious as anything she's done to date. It's sort of the flip to Worldwide Underground in that both albums are so diffuse as to seem careless and haphazard to some listeners. But whereas the earlier album maintained a laidback, even keel (held together under the influence of the Mizell brothers), New AmErykah i
